NRPA PARK PULSE Parks and Recreation Provides Sports Opportunities for Girls 57% of U.S. adults believe it is extremely or very important for girls to be encouraged to participate in sports as they enter middle school and high school. Parents are the strongest advocates for encouraging girls to participate in sports: 69% with children ages 13 to 17 believe it is extremely or very important. Each month, through a poll of 1,000 U.S. residents focused on park and recreation issues, NRPA Park Pulse helps tell the park and recreation story.
